New Restaurant opens in Wokingham with Michelin Star Intentions
Nigel Sutcliffe, the former Restaurant director at Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck, has joined forces with former The Hand & Flowers chef Josh Wilde for a new restaurant project in Wokingham aiming for Michelin stars.
FARE Eatery will be a new restaurant located within the Grade Il listed Town Hall building in Wokingham later this month. It will comprise a main dining room seating 38 covers with a further 12 covers available for private dining in the converted former prison cells situated at the rear of the restaurant. There will also be outdoor seating for 40 guests with ourdoor pods for groups dining in winter.
The menu at FARE will serve up seasonal contemporary cuisine featuring a range of small to large plates, and at the heart of the kitchen is a robata grill which will provide the backbone for the exciting fire-led menu. Dishes will include merguez kofta, roasted octopus, an onion tarte Tatin, as well as spiced Lyme Bay plaice.
The kitchen will be overseen by Wilde, who joined the team at Tom Kerridge’s The Coach in Marlow in 2018 working his way from demi chef de partie to senior sous chef. Previously working at L’ortolan and Le Manoir Aux Quat’ Saisons. After leaving The Coach Wilde went on to work at the two Michelin-starred The Hand & Flowers before leaving in 2022 to take up his first head chef position at The Little Angel in Henley upon Thames before joining the project at FARE.
Nigel Sutcliffe and business partner James McLean, also operate The Oarsman in Marlow, The Crown in Bray and The Mutton in Hazeley Heath. Nigel previously worked side by side with Heston Blumenthal to run the world famous 3 Michelin starred, The Fat Duck in Bray.
The restaurant will open on June 18th and bookings can be made online https://fareeatery.co.uk
