1890 by gordon ramsay has been awarded a Michelin Star in the latest Michelin London guide ratings.

The restaurant opened in February 2022, located inside the Savoy Hotel and named in honour of legendary French Chef Auguste Escoffier,‘1890′ marks the year that the renowned French chef joined Cesar Ritz at The Savoy.

The 2024 Michelin Guide has rewarded the restaurant with One Michelin Star, almost two full years after its opening. As with many restaurants re-opening after Covid the kitchen experienced staffing issues with recruitment of chefs and retaining a good kitchen team.

The kitchen is led by James Sharp who was previously Senior Sous chef at Petrus and Sous Chef at Three Michelin Star restaurant Gordon Ramsay. Sarah Rhone is the restaurant’s general manager (previously Chewton Glen and Phil Howards Elystan Street) and the Head of Wine is Emanuel Pesqueira. 

The restaurant presents a French seasonal tasting menu with European touches.  The restaurants website notes Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay has created ‘a blend between unparalleled service, culinary creativity, and exquisite wines’. Overlooking the iconic Savoy Hotel entrance, Restaurant 1890 provides the perfect ambience and an unforgettable dining experience.

Open for dinner only and seating 26 guests with sittings at 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm, open from Tuesday to Saturday.

Thisroom inside features rich, golden hues, art deco touches and 10 dining tables. The Ten-course tasting menu is priced at £175 per person. Inspired by Escoffier’s classics and delivered with elegance, dishes are prepared using modern techniques. A shorter, 4 course version of the menu is available Friday and Saturday lunchtimes for Theatre goers and shoppers.
